COMPETITION!

The hour is upon us! To celebrate the release of their “At Least We Can Dance” Remix EP out on August 31st on Doshiwa records, live soul / funk / house heads DEKATA PROJECT have taken over my livejournal to help run a neato mosquito ART COMPETITION

Dekata Project, who have recently enjoyed airplay on BBC Radio 1 courtesy of Fabio and Grooverider and Rob Da Bank, have also been featured as a single of the week in The Metro, and have been singled out for a "bubbling under" feature in September’s issue of iDJ magazine.

In addition to a cash prize, your winning entry will be used as promotional material to advertise their Remix EP! That is crazy! Be sure to write your name on it in big letters!

RULES!

Over the past few months, readers of my livejournal have created a huge amount of amazing artwork and characters- there were all the characters in the Choose a Cat, Draw A Girl project, henceforth to as CAT GIRLS, and then the people from Black Lion Week , who I will now be calling LION LADIES. If you've never seen them, I urge you do check them out!

Cat Girls and Lion Ladies- two seperate factions, as different as night and day! Or are they? Maybe they're pals! Maybe they have never met! In fact, we don't know anything about these people. They exist in a timeless void, characters in search of a novel. And that's where you come in.

1:) Take ANY TWO OR MORE characters from the huge roster of Cat Girls and Lion Ladies.

2:) Make a comic strip based on them! It can be 4 panels long or an Akira-length epic. You can also submit prose or an illustrated story, if you want.

3:) Then, post it in the comments of this livejournal! That's it! You have a month!

GRAND
WINNER gets £100 CASH PRIZE

That's
a hundred and sixty-four American dollars!

Also!
There is a mystery BOOBY PRIZE for dumbest, most horrible entry
to be judged and awarded by Daphaknee!

Everyone has a
chance to win!

Competition
Closes September 27th, 2009

Good luck! Tell your friends! See the comments for FAQ (kind of important).

Here's some drawings I did for the upcoming release of Cave Story on Nintendo Wiiware, as reported by Play Magazine.

There was also a lot of talk as to why my blog had stayed silent on the 8-bit tribute to Miles Davis and Capcom's commitment to the iPhone, so I'm glad I can finally lay that controversy to rest

I also want to show you this page from Brandon Graham ([info]royalboiler) 's comic King City, coming soon from Image Comics. See if you can spot anyone you recognise! This is very cool.

Not only should you buy Brandon's books but I can thoroughly recommend his blog for inspirational posts about comics (though I'm sure you've added him already)

By the way, we're still having a lot of fun with the characters in the previous thing I posted, making awesome animated gifs and drawing them as real girls and whatnot, like we did with the drawings of cats from a while back.  You should mosey on over, because there's some seriously impressive stuff in there! I think I'm going to do a showcase of everyone's drawings at the end of the week, so if you're inspired to do some yourself, that'd be cool too. LATERZZZ

Here is a real thing that happened earlier this month
when [info]daphaknee went to Fanime Con:

Some Girl: HEY ARE YOU OH DAPHNY FROM THE INTERNET??

Daphny: yeah

SG: OH! I LOVE YOUR BOYFRIEND'S CARTOONS!

Daphny: asgjksadfjkdsjfdskjfa

                       Design for Daphy's tooth tattoo

Ha ha. I wonder how people get the impression Daphny is my girlfriend? Is it, by chance, because 4 out of every 5 drawings I post to this livejournal seem to be related to her in some way

By the by, here is a drawing I did for Daphny's birthday:

In case you are building a fact file Daphny's boyfriend is [info]bitterchris  on livejournal, go stalk him

Sometimes I do drawings that don't have to do with Daphny. Look! I also did an illustration this month for Game Developer Magazine. It's a picture of a stereotypical game developer chopping down a 'file tree', to illustrate how thrilling and rewarding it can be to maximize efficiency in the workplace by streamlining your filing systems. The character with the axe is based on my friend Owen aka [info]elfshotthefood .

Supposedly Heather Campbell did a little writeup about something I'd done in the American Play Magazine this month, too, but so far I haven't been able to see a copy... can anyone find my thing in it and scan it for me?

This is the logo I did for the Moos Family's Race To Raise The Roof which I've mentioned on here a few times. If you don't already know about it, read this article about it in the Philidelphia Enquirer here, and then join the Facebook group here, donate money here, and buy limited edition Queen of Dorks  fundraiser jewellery here.

I guess it looks like there is enough demand for me to start making merchandise and junk and at least be able to make my money back on the printing, so expect news on that front soon. Hey I think I am going to do a group activity tomorrow, I hope ya'll are ready
