I'm going to take advantage of the fact that there are a number of very talented artists who read this blog (hi) and ask for your opinion on something I've been working on. It's the same pirate image I showed as a work in progress a few days back. I finished the image, but I still don't feel like I've 'finished' the image, if you know what I mean.
There are a lots of elements in the picture below which are struggling to maintain harmony with each other. The reason the image is so populated is because I'm trying to show that these people inhabit a plentiful, bountiful world unspoiled by human intervention. The floor is littered with these beautiful treasures the pirates have to step over- shellfish, wildlife, so much fruit the indiginous animals can't possibly eat it all- and going largely ignored by the human visitors, who are only interested in a treasure of a different kind. (this is deep stuff as you can tell) Anyway, here's the image. |

I won't point out what I think is wrong with this picture because you lot probably know more about this than I do- but I'd like to know what you think is working, what's not, which bits are hitting you in the right spot. Even if you don't draw, I'd still like to hear your thoughts.
I've also uploaded the
.psd file so you can fiddle about with it, if you're that way inclined.
